CDKN is looking for a Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Lead to provide expertise and thought leadership on the complex interrelationships among gender, race, social exclusion and systematic inequalities, climate impacts, vulnerability and risk, and climate-resilient development policies and actions. The position will be hired through SouthSouthNorth (SSN).

CDKN is a global Southern-led programme working across Africa, Asia and Latin America. During the current five year phase (2022-2027), CDKN will have a particular focus on the African continent. We are therefore seeking a GESI Lead who is attuned to the climate-resilient development approaches, needs and demands of the continent, with a specific focus on Black African feminist approaches. An explicit part of the GESI Lead’s mission will be to champion and advance the voice and agency of structurally excluded African women as climate resilient development leaders. The GESI Lead will do this in the context of a CDKN programmatic environment where everyone’s experience and contributions are deeply valued and respected.

The GESI Lead will be called on frequently to advise CDKN’s country and regional teams, and to represent CDKN regionally and globally on GESI issues. As well as responding to such requests, the GESI Lead will also coach CDKN team members to grow their confidence and core skills in progressing gender and social justice, in the pursuit for climate justice.
