CDKN and LEAD Pakistan are holding a public engagement workshop on ‘Heat Wave Management in Karachi City’ on 24th November, 2015 from 0930 – 1330 hours at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi.

Heat waves have emerged as the latest climate induced hazard to Pakistan. Frequency and intensity of heat waves have increased significantly in recent past over this region. Urban centres in particular have borne the brunt with thousands of fatalities resulting from unprecedented heat waves this year alone. Keeping in view the above situation,  the Climate & Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) and LEAD Pakistan are undertaking a project to facilitate Karachi city district government in heat wave management. A number of activities, aimed at sensitization and motivation, are planned under this project which include capacity assessment survey and workshops. This workshop will bring together all relevant stakeholders including concerned organizations/departments, DRM agencies, private sector and donors at one platform to support better coordination and division of responsibility for future hazards.

Workshop and RSVP details can be download from here.
