Through its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), the Government of Peru made commitments in mitigation and adaptation. It pledged to reduce 30% of greenhouse gas emissions projected up to 2030, particularly those in the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use, (AFOLU) sector. There were five priority adaptation sectors: water, agriculture, fisheries, forests, and health, with the goal of reducing the vulnerabilities of the priority thematic areas.

Peru’s INDC is currently under review and refinement. In this context, this project seeks to identify and analyse what actions and policies are being implemented at local and regional level in the regions of Apurimac, Cusco and Ucayali; what are the barriers that must be overcome? From this, the project will identify the needs and enabling conditions required to build the proper delivery and coordination of contributions between the national and regional levels.
